Frank Gambale

Frank Gambale

The guitar gentleman: Frank Gambale actually studied at the same school as Engqvist, Jens, and Jacob, Musicians institute in Hollywood years ago. No doubt he was a guitarplayer i just dreamt about playing with. In 2000 the band got the chance.....

The timing of the recording of Engqvist orkester Cd optimism was very well planned. The band had negotiated with the world famous guitarplayer Frank Gambale to perform on 2 tracks. The band planned their session to fit the LAMA band Europe tour scedule, as Frank was supposed to do. Engqvist invited the LAMA band to come and do workshops and do a concert at the local club "Skraaen" in Aalborg. Frank was hired to work in the studio one day......And what a day. First he did "Things in life you dont wanna miss" a tune written by Jens Norholm. It took Frank a couple of takes to nail the tune. A couple of overdups, and the track was cut.

We decided to do a ballad as the next tune. H.H. is written by Jens. Frank played on Troels Skovgaards acoustic guitar, and did a little singing at the end of the tune. Check it out.....Frank actually played the most beautyfull solo i ever heard on H.H. We are very proud to have him playing on the album.

The day after the studio session we did a double concert with LAMA band at Skraaen. That was a great concert, who inspired a lot of young musians.

LAMA Band was:

Kevyn Lettau: Vocals
Jimmy Haslip: Bas.
Frank Gambale: Guitars.
Mike Shapiro: Drums.

At the concert "Engqvist orkester" was supported by Troels Skovgaard on Guitars, and Marianne Christensen did one vocal tune, as surprise guest. After the concert we all just hung at the venue, and Frank Gambale demonstrated his skills on the great piano, playing all the GREAT Steely Dan tunes we all know. He sure checked them out. Well we all should. The event was a benefit of a very succesfully collarboration with Hans-Peter Becker president of LAMA, and Tom Aylesbury Director of LAMA.

Without those two guys the event would never accured. Thanks to you guys !!!
