Robben Ford

The Robben Ford Session: "Engqvist orkester" was asked to back up the legendary Robben Ford at "The International Guitarfestival 2000" in Aalborg, Denmark. Robben Ford send some of his first choise tunes, like "Help The Poor", "Dont Let The Sun Catch You Cryin", "Chevrolet". He suggested we could do eight of his tunes, and fill up the rest of the concert with Engqvist orkester tunes.

When Robben arrived directly from San Fransisco (11 Hours flight) we did one day of rehearsals at the venue "Studenterhuset". The session went great, and we "clicked" with him very fast. Robben is a true great person, and a fantastic musician. He just nailed the tunes from beginning to the end. So much musicial energy, and unbelievable great timing.......In short terms a real gentleman !!........He actually helped drummer Henrik Engqvist carrying his heavy gear from the van to the stage.

The day after the rehearsal, Robben did a Guitar workshop in front of a packed audience. The concert happent as the main event Saturday of the festival, and the concert was sold out. It was a fantastic experience for the band to play with one of the greatest guitar players of all times.

Robben truely took the band to a higher level, and showed how much he really could contribute even we never met before this session. Fortunately we recorded the session, and decided to release the tune "Dont let the sun catch you cryin" on our CD "Optimism" Check it out......Thats live, no dubs, and sequences !
